Updates from the Buffalo Sabres as the team has day off before taking on Islanders

Lots happening with the Buffalo Sabres, who are enjoying a day to plan before they head to Long Island to take on the New York Islanders.

First the team announced that they have reassigned forward Jean-Sebastien Dea and C.J. Smith from Rochester (AHL) to the taxi squad, while also reassigning forward Jack Quinn from the taxi squad to Rochester.
Dea and Smith have been a part of the Amerks training camp, as Rochester is getting ready to take part of the AHL Season.

Dea, 26, skated in three games for the Sabres last season and recorded seven points in 32 career NHL games. He led the Amerks in scoring last year.

Smith was able to tally 27 points in 50 games for Rochester during the 2019-20 season. His last NHL action came during the 2018-19 season, when he recorded two goals and n assist in 11 games for Buffalo.

Quinn, who was drafted eighth overall by Buffalo in October, was able to record 52 goals for the Ottawa 67’s of the OHL last year. He also recorded five points in seven games for Canada in a silver-medal performance at this year’s World Junior Championship.

The Amerks will open the 2020-21 AHL season on Friday at home against Utica.

Buffalo, meanwhile, will play their next four games on the road, which starts on Long Island against the Islanders.

In other news the team also announced that they will be wearing their reverse retro uniforms six times during the 2020-21 season.
The Sabres will wear their new third jerseys for the first time on Thursday, February 11, against the Washington Capitals.

Saturday, February 20 at New Jersey
Monday, February 22 at New Jersey
Friday, February 26 vs. Philadelphia

The Reverse Retro jersey is modeled after the team’s first third jersey, which debuted during the 2000-01 season. The jersey features a crossed swords logo on the crest and the team’s primary logo from 1996-2006 on the shoulders in an updated blue and gold color scheme.
