1495 Sports WWE weekly recap

There is a ton of buzz surrounding the WWE, after the historic 1,000 episode of Raw, and 1495 Sports has these thoughts for all fans of professional wrestling.

Probably one of the biggest things to have the WWE Universe buzzing, was the actions of C.M. Punk, as the Straight Edge star ‘turned his back’ on a beat down by the Big Show to John Cena. Punk also put The Rock to sleep, causing for the majority of the crowd in St. Louis to start booing the reigning WWE Champion.

Who can really blame Punk for wanting to stand his ground and show that he is the top guy in the company? Since obtaining the WWE Championship, C.M. Punk has been put on the back burners, having to wrestle in every other part of WWE programming except for the Main Event.

Punk was only showing the fans that he is in fact the main guy in the WWE, and he should not have to take a back seat to either John Cena or The Rock. The crazy thing for fans of the Straight Edge star is that we will have to now deal with a Punk heel run.

It is not necessarily a bad thing, because just about any role Punk has within the company he will shine. Just seems crazy from this fans perspective that those who were saying that Cena sucks, or those upset with the fact that The Rock has been gone for so long would voice their displeasure against a guy who has been with the company.

Yes, those fans can argue the fact that Punk did go on hiatus in 2011, but that was to show the company how much they not only needed him-but the WWE Championship. This is one storyline that fans should stay tuned for.

Another great storyline is the budding feud between Dolph Ziggler and Chris Jericho; it is great for the company to have a guy like Jericho back on the roster. Y2J can help the company on many levels, including helping a guy like Ziggler take his character to the next level.

The promo that Ziggler had with Jericho losing his touch alone took Dolph to another level, and if things are done properly in the ring-Dolph can be someone that the WWE can build themselves around.

Fellow young lion Cody Rhodes also took a positive step in being one of the cornerstones of the company, by putting on a great match with Sheamus on Friday Night SmackDown. This fan definitely wishes to see Rhodes and Sheamus go at it again in the near future.

For now though fans have to deal with another bout featuring Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio, me thinks this feud with Great White and the Mexican Aristocrat should have been finished a while ago. Thus far fans have not bought into these two.

Del Rio’s character within the WWE has grown stale with the fans, it really does not matter how aggressive the star is-it just feels like it is time to maybe have someone else feud with Sheamus.

Probably the :shake your head: moment of the week is the fact that AJ is now General Manager of Raw, it was a move that most fans did not expect-though it will be interesting to see what the Diva does with the Flagship brand.

In the :Awesome: moment of the week, congrats to The Miz who became a Triple Crown winner with his victory over Christian and claiming the Intercontinental Championship on Raw. It is great to see The Awesome one back in WWE programming, and it should be interesting to see the direction the company will take him.

It is definitely going to be interesting to see what direction the company will take with the SummerSlam pay-per-view starting to take shape. Already bouts with Brock Lesnar and Triple H have been confirmed with many others to be confirmed soon.

That is a wrap for us here at 1495 Sports, fans are invited to stay tune for what should be a very interesting ride in WWE programming.
