Tavares impresses in 2012 NHL All-Star Game

In case if you didn’t know that guy wearing #91 in orange, white and blue is named John Tavares, and he plays for the New York Islanders. If you hadn’t had the chance to sit and watch him play before, you were in for a real treat in the 2012 NHL All-Star game, as the center shined in the two day event.

The guy known as ‘JT’ to fans and teammates alike first opened the viewing public’s eyes in the skills competition, breaking out a lacrosse style goal in day one. Meanwhile in the actual game itself the center/winger recorded a goal and assist.

Impressing with both his shooting skills and great hands, the Mississauga, Ontario, Canada-native showed why he is a player to watch for-for years to come.

Though his team, led by Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson fell to Team Zdeno Chara by a final of 12-9, it is time for the world and fans outside of Long Island to know the name of John Tavares-with a showing like tonight, it will be a name to remember.

Tavares and the Islanders will return to action on Tuesday, January 31, when they travel to Carolina to take on the Hurricanes. The Isles/Canes game is slated to air on the MSG Plus 2 network, with face-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
