Washington Spirit Return Home to Audi Field to Host Utah Royals

One of the trends when it comes time for the Washington Spirit is the fact that they always play well in front of the crowd at Audi Field, the ladies look to continue that trend and go on a bit of a winning streak on Sunday, March 31 by hosting the Utah Royals.

This is going to be the third match of the 2024 NWSL regular season, with the Spirit recently defeating Bay FC by a final of 2-1. Since moving to play at Audi Field the ladies are getting record crowds as in the home opener the ladies drew 11,734 fans, which is a home opening record.

In terms of the overall matchups against Utah this is going to be the seventh all-time meeting between the franchises.

The rookie class for the Spirit are looking impressive as Hal Hershfelt and Croix Bethune scored the two goals in the victory against Bay FC. They are the fifth and sixth players to score a goal in their home debut joining Ashley Hatch, Diana Matheson, Ashley Sanchez and Sam Staab in achieving the feat.

Continuing to develop into one of the top players in the NWSL is Trinity Rodman, as the star made her 75th appearance with the franchise in the match against Bay FC. Rodman assisted in the goal by Hershfelt and is now tied in the franchise assist record.


As for Utah they are led by Ally Sentnor, as she scored her first NWSL goal in the team’s match against North Carolina.

There is going to be a ton of excitement surrounding the Spirit as they have a chance to once again play in front of their home crowd at Audi Field this Friday with the time of the match scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
