Washington Spirit on a roll as they get ready to take on the Defending Champs Gotham FC on Saturday

Things are looking great for the Washington Spirit as they are in Third Place in the 2024 NWSL standings with a 3-1-0 record.

Winners of three in a row the ladies are heading into a match at Audi Field on Saturday, April 20th against the reigning NWSL Champions in a battle of not only East Coast NWSL teams, but also the most recent champions in the League.

The Spirit recently defeated the Houston Dash by the score of 3-1, and there were so many memorable moments and milestones from that match.

Starting with the appearance by Andi Sullivan as she made her 100th career appearance with the franchise. With that appearance Sullivan joins Tori Huster (159), Aubrey Kingsbury (110) and Ashley Hatch (109) as those that achieve that feat.

Then it was the Washington Spirit Rookie Class are having the team to be ones to watch during the NWSL season.

As for the goal scorers in the match against Houston were Hal Hershfelt, Brittany Ratcliffe and Croix Bethune.

Thus far the Spirit have won three straight matches, as they are preparing for a match against the current NWSL Champions on April 20.

The last time the Spirit won three matches in a row was in 2021, another interesting fact from the

Washington Spirit public relations department is the fact that the Spirit also beat Houston by multiple goals for the first time in team history and the first time since a 2-0 home victory since June 2017.

Now the excitement and the work is being put in for the Spirit’s next match at Audi Field on Saturday, April 20 against Gotham FC. In that match the ladies are going to be celebrating Women’s Cancer Day and are encouraging fans to Black Out Audi Field.
