Seton Hall Wins Thriller Against Georgetown 76-70

In what was a closely contested BIG EAST Contest at the Prudential Center, the Seton Hall Men’s Basketball team (15-8, 8-4 BIG EAST Conference) defeated Georgetown (8-14, 1-10) by a final of 76-70.

For those Seton Hall Men’s Basketball historians, the rivalry between the Hall and the Hoyas is one that is a classic and defined by the play of Terry Dehere during the (1989-1993 seasons).

Dehere made an impact with the team from the start of his time with the Pirates started 28 games and led the team with his 16.1 points per game average.

Flashing forward to the 2024 group as Head Coach Shaheen Holloway sees his team currently in Third Place in the BIG EAST Conference Standings.

Thus far the Pirates Kadary Richmond leads with his 338 points in 16.1 games while Dre Davis has 14.3 points and Al-Amir Dawes has 14.0 points.

It was the trio of Davis, Richmond and Dawes all leading the way in the team’s most recent meeting against the Hoyas.

Starting with Davis as he finished the night with his 25 poitns and 10 rebounds on 11-19 shooting, then it is Richmond as he tallied 20 points on 3-8 shooting and going an impressive 13-16 from the floor. Finally rounding the scoring is Dawes with his 11 points.

As for the Hoyas a team building upon a historic brand, the team made many of the fans and supporters in the Washington D.C. and DMV area proud by keeping the game close and showing heart and grit throughout the night.

Georgetown is led in scoring by Dontrez Styles and Supreme Cook with 20 points each and also saw impressive performances by Jayden Epps and Jay Heath as they scored 15 and 10 points respectively.

The Ultra Tough BIG EAST Conference schedule continues for the Pirates on Sunday as they take on Villanova University in Philadelphia with the start of the game scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
