New York City FC Looks to Build Momentum in Match vs Houston

While it is very early New York City FC is looking to build the momentum that they were able to built in their last two matches, as they now take on the Houston Dynamo in MLS action.

The Boys in Blue now have seven points and are on a two-game winning streak while climbing up the Eastern Conference Standings. NYCFC is currently in Fifth Plays as they enter into the match against Houston.

In the team’s last match against D.C. United things had gotten spicy for the franchise, in what was an electric atmosphere at Yankee Stadium. The Cityzens found the offense that they were looking for as Talles Magno, Santiago Rodriguez and Thiago Andrade all had their first notches of the season.

For Magno his goal in the 17th minute, ranks amongst one of the fastest of the 2023 MLS Regular Season. The fastest goal he was able to tally during the MLS Regular season was in the ninth minute on May 14 versus the Columbus Crew.

In other notable stats Rodriguez and Gabriel Pereira are currently tied for most assist and most goals this season. Rodriguez had achieved this feat before on Match 18, 2023 against D.C. United, meanwhile, Pereira was able to record a goal on March 4, 2023 on March 4.

NYCFC fans are encouraged to check out the following video as Head Coach Nick Cushing along with Talles Magno share these thoughts:

Santi has been playing tremendously as of late has the goal marks his eighth to go along with 15 assist in a total of 56 games played with the Boys in Blue. Pereira has also been playing well as of late, as his goal marks the 10th to go along with five assists in a total of 30 games played.

There were a ton of first for the Citizens, as Braian Cufré and Keaton Parks also registered their first assist.

The rivalry between NYCFC and Houston is a young one, as they have met a total of five times in the MLS Regular Season. In those matches the Boys in Blue have been able to win twice, while also tying twice and lost one.

In their last meeting on August 8, 2019 Parks was able to get a beauty of an assist to Valentin Castellanos, while also having three shots, while also having a stellar passing percentage of 92.6%.

The team will be leaning on Parks and his experience from the past Dynamo events to help to lift them to their third victory in a row.
