Preview: Buffalo Sabres set to take on Boston Bruins

The Buffalo Sabres will be hosting the Boston Bruins in NHL action on Thursday night. This will be the fifth of eight meetings between these two teams. In their last meeting the Bruins were able to down the Sabres, 2-0 in Buffalo.

Thus far Buffalo holds a 1-7-2 mark in the last 10 games against the Bruins, while also a 1-7-2 mark at home. This will be the 301st game all-time between Buffalo and Boston, with the Sabres holding a 125-129-46 record.

Playing well thus far for the Sabres has been Dustin Tokarski, who was recently named the NHL’s first star of the week for the week ending of April 18. Tokarski made a league-best 128 saves on 137 shots during the week, while ranking fourth in the NHL with 240 saves.

In the team’s last nine games the line of Rasmus Asplund, Casey Mittelstadt and Tage Thompson have been able to outscore opponents 4-1. The Trio has been able to combine for an 80% goals-for percentage over that nine-game stretch.

There will be some milestones to watch for during the game as Rasmus Ristolainen is one goal away from having 47 career goals, which is tied for seventh in franchise history for defenders.

The game between the Sabres and Bruins is set for 7:00 p.m. with fans wanting to watch the game can do so on the MSG Network.
