The New York Mets used a Seventh Inning rally to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals in Spring Training action on Tuesday.
St. Louis was able to jump to an early lead thanks to hits by Andrew Knizer and Edmundo Sosa in the Top of the Second Inning. Justin Williams ripped a homer in the Top of the Fourth to give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead.
It was in the Bottom of the Seventh where the Mets were able to rally, it was Kevin Pillar who got things going thanks to an RBI single to left field. New York were able to cash in on a fielder’s choice opportunity before a Ronny Mauricio RBI single gave the team a 5-3 lead.
The Mets were able to hold off the Cardinals offense for the rest of the game earning a big victory in Spring Training.
Pitching well for New York was Taijuan Walker, Edwin Diaz, Trevor May, and Miguel Castro who all had two strikeouts each.

The Mets will be on the road to take on the Houston Astros on Thursday in a game that is set for 6:05 p.m. On the mound for New York will be Jacob deGrom to take on Zack Greinke in a battle of the aces.
Also the team has announced the the following 19 players have been reassigned.
Pitchers: RHP Matt Allan, RHP Oscar De La Cruz, RHP Ryley Gilliam, RHP J.T. Ginn, RHP Harol González, RHP Trevor Hildenberger, RHP Tylor Megill, RHP Stephen Nogosek, RHP Marcel Rentería, RHP Jared Robinson and LHP Tom Windle.
Position Players: Catcher Francisco Álvarez, OF Pete Crow-Armstrong, INF Brett Baty, OF Drew Ferguson, INF Ronny Mauricio, Catcher Nick Meyer, Catcher Hayden Senger and INF Mark Vientos.
In addition, RHP Franklyn Kilome, RHP Sean Reid-Foley and LHP Thomas Szapucki have been optioned to the Triple-A roster.
The Mets now have 53 players in major league camp.
