Preview: Washington Capitals set to take on New Jersey Devils

The Washington Capitals are on the road to take on the New Jersey Devils on Saturday afternoon. This will be the second time this season these two teams have met.

In the first meeting of the season T.J. Oshie was able to record three points, while Nicklas Backstrom added two assists.

Oshie has played well overall for the team, as he has been able to record 68 multi-point games, which is good for fourth-most among the team’s forwards.

Leading the way overall in scoring for the Capitals is Backstrom who has 24 points, which is also good for sixth most points in the NHL. Backstrom is on the verge of a milestone, as he is one assist shy of 700 career assists.

As a team the Capitals have been able to score a goal in all 19 games, while seeing 14 different players score the first goal of the game.

The Capitals look to continue their winning ways as they were able to skate to a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.

In that game the Caps saw scoring from Oshie, Tom Wilson, Carl Hagelin, and Lars Eller.

As for the Devils they are also skating with a ton of momentum, having earned a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday.

Players who have fared well in games against Washington for New Jersey include Nikita Gusev, who led the team in scoring vs the Capitals. Nico Hischier and Will Butcher have also played well.
