The New York Lizards will have an opportunity to host a first-ever Major League Lacrosse Playoff game on Saturday, August 1 against the Boston Cannons.
These two Northeast Rivals have much history together and also players who will be hungry to get vengance against their former teams.
For the Lizards they have former Cannons players Paul Rabil, Matt Poskay and Mike Stone, while the Cannons have former New York fan favorite Max Seibald on their roster.
The Lizards were able to sweep the Cannons during the 2014 season, while also winning both games during Boston during 2015.
When the Lizards went up to Boston on May 3, as Rabil made his mark against his former team-recording multiple two-point goals, a one-point goal and two assist, in helping to lead the team to a 15-14 victory.
Also contributing to the offense were additional goals by Matt Gibson, Mike Stone, Kevin Unterstein, Ned Crotty, JoJo Marasco, Rob Pannell, and Matt Poskay. Pannell and Marasco each racked up 3 assists, Rabil had two and Crotty had one.
On May 8 these two rivals once again this time with New York earning a 15-12 victory over Boston.
Leading the offense in that game as Rob Pannell had a five-point game (three goals, two assists), JoJo Marasco tallied three goals and Tommy Palasek recorded a hat trick.
The New York Lizards and Boston Cannons are set to play on August 1 at James M. Shuart Stadium on the Campus of Hofstra University in Hempstead/Uniondale, N.Y. The game between these two is set for 6:30 p.m.
