New York City FC Welcomes Andoni Iraola, Jose Angel Tasende and Frank Lampard to the Club

New York City FC is currently one spot away from a playoff spot, playing with confidence and starting to gain great chemistry as a club.

In addition to the great talent that is already on the roster, on July 7 NYCFC welcomed three players who will look to make an immediate impact.

Defenders Andoni Iraola and Jose Angel Tasende (Angelino) along with Midfielder Frank Lampard will all in some capacity join the club and help with the team’s playoff and potentially even championship aspirations.

For Lampard he had been a part of the building blocks for New York City FC from the beginning, but had wanted to finish his time with Manchester City FC, before joining in the ranks of Major League Soccer.

As for Iraola and Tasende, both are players that Head Coach Jason Kreis had felt would be valuable additions.

Lampard and Iraola are both projected to make their first start with New York City FC when they take on Toronto FC at Yankee Stadium on July 12. It is not quite known yet when Tasende will start, but expectations are high for the young defender.

Yet still to join NYCFC will be the third Designated Player Andrea Pirlo, who was announced as a part of the roster on July 6.  Pirlo joins the Club on July 21 and will be available for selection immediately following that.

It will be interesting to see how these four players will fit in with Kreis’ system, but the Head Coach is up for the challenge, especially when it comes time to working with the talent that he has on his roster.

For those who follow the club the excitement is high and all are anxious to see what this club will look like once all the moves are finished.

Now it is time to get ready for Toronto FC at Yankee Stadium on July 12, the first test for at least two of the three newest additions of the club. The match between NYCFC and Toronto FC is set for 3:00 pm, and the match is set to air on ESPN.
