Major League Lacrosse announced on Tuesday that New York Lizards midfielder Greg “Beast” Gurenlian has been awarded the FOAthlete of the Week for his Week 5 performance against the Boston Cannons, presented by the Faceoff Academy.

Gurenlian went 23-for-30 in faceoffs against the Cannons with a 76 percent  faceoff win performance. He has received numerous accolades thus far in the season including two more FOAthlete of the Week Awards and a Coca-Cola Player of the Game Award during week 2 against the Rochester Rattlers.

“Like any great player, the position of their trade is practice,” said Lizards Head Coach, Joe Spallina. “Greg is someone that works really hard at what he does and he brings that practiced precision to the field every day.”

Among other highlights of the Lizards’ 15-12 win over the Boston Cannons in Week 5, JoJo Marasco, Rob Pannell and Tommy Palasek each netted a hat trick and Paul Rabil achieved is 200th goal milestone. As the only undefeated team in the MLL thus far, the Lizards seek to protect their first place spot in their game against the Chesapeake Bayhawks Saturday, May 16th. A special pre-game ceremony will take place to honor the 15th Anniversary of the New York Lizards and to welcome back the 2001 inaugural team. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a Lizards rally towel.
