The Xavier Men’s Basketball Team found a surge of energy in the overtime frame to down No. 22 Butler by a final of 67-61 in the Quarterfinal Round of the BIG EAST Tournament.
With five players in double-figure scoring, the Musketeers used a balanced attack to upset the No. 3 seeded Bulldogs.
Leading the way in scoring for Xavier was Myles Davis, Dee Davis and Matt Stainbrook each scored a team-high 13 points.
Xavier had 13 turnovers to Butler’s 14, but the Musketeers were able to turn the Bulldogs’ mistakes into 23 points, compared to just 11 points off turnovers for BU.
The Musketeers will now move on to face the No. 23 Hoyas in the Semifinal round of the tournament, set to start at 9:30 p.m.
