It all comes down to this fans, the final regular season game for the New York Lizards (7-5) who are battling it out with the always tough Denver Outlaws (9-4) for one of the top spots in the Major League Lacrosse standings.

New York who was able to secure a playoff spot, can now potentially host a postseason game by defeating Denver by five or more goals. The Lizards have not had much luck against the Outlawas, as in 13 regular season games the team recorded one victory over Denver a 14-8 decision in 2012.

This 2014 squad has been fun to watch though, as the combination of depth on offense, great defensive play and the one-two punch of Greg Gurenlian at the face-off x and Drew Adams in the cage has helped to lead the team to the point to where they are at now.

Here are some other important notes to prepare fans for the Regular Season Home Finale against the Oulaws on August 9:

Lizards look to stay undefeated at Hofstra:

The Lizards have won every game played so far this season at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium. The Lizards only home loss was at Stony Brook’s LaValle Stadium to the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Every other loss this season has been on the road.

Scouting Denver:

Denver has maintained a top spot for nearly all of the 2014 season. Their starting lineup is nothing short of talent both defensively and offensively, starting with the Bocklet brothers and world renowned goalie Jesse Schwartzman (0.562 Saves percentage). The Outlaws have players such as John Grant who is tied at third with New York’s own Rob Pannell for points, Eric Law (6th in the league for points), and Jeremy Sieverts (7th in the league for points).

Congrats to Joe Fletcher:

Joe Fletcher, New York’s rookie who has played in just 10 games this season has been so impressive that he was named the Warrior Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Fletcher’s impact on the field in his short time with New York has earned him the impressive title.
