In an intense battle between two WNBA Rivals the New York Liberty (13-16) were able to grind out a 71-66 victory over the Connecticut Sun (11-20) as it is getting down to the wire for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
With every game counting at this point, and all the teams vying for a spot in the postseason play, now is the time for the Liberty to rise and show the world what they can do as a team.
Tonight the combination of heart, grit and effort were able to move into third place in the Eastern Conference standings, a spot they will have to defend on a highly basis if they wish to see playoffs.
New York had three players finishing with double-digit scoring, though in the end it was truly a team effort as everyone who was involved contributed to getting the victory on this night.
Leading the way on the offensive end of the court was Center Tina Charles, who tallied 15 points, good for her 24th double-digit game, while also adding a game-high 14 rebounds for her 15th double-double of the season. Guard Sugar Rodgers finished the night with 12 points, and Avery Warley-Talbert rounded out the offense with her first double-digit game adding 11 points and 11 rebounds.
