Imagine having to live your life not being able to breathe properly, not being able to run around with other kids or being picked on due to the fact that you have a condition called Asthma.

Having to take pills, live with machines or having to live with a daily regimen because of the fact that you have Asthma. The chance of becoming a World Class Athlete, or really anything maybe difficult.
That is in fact not the case, and was an important message that was given to the children of the Ryan Women and Children’s Center on a humid August Day, as New York Liberty Guard Sugar Rodgers and Fidelis Care teamed up to teach the future of the world that you can in fact succeed with Asthma.
Rodgers, who has enjoyed taking time to give to others in the past, and will soon be an Author at the end of the month as her book ‘A Bitter Sweet Life’ has overcome many obstacles to now live out her dreams to play for the Women’s National Basketball Association.
Sugar who took time to answer questions about having to live with Asthma, while also interacting and playing basketball with those in attendance hope that her appearance today helps to inspire others to go after their dreams. The Second Year Guard has been sensational for the Liberty, not only playing an aggressive defensive brand of basketball, but also hitting some clutch shots along the way.
“You can be a NBA Player, a WNBA Player, a professional Golfer, anything-anything you can put your mind to,” said Rodgers to those in attendance.
Ryan Women and Children’s Center is a part of the Ryan Network Family, which strives to provide affordable, quality medical services at a fraction of the cost. The Women and Children’s Center is located in a place where most of their patients have to deal with Asthma, so it was a great opportunity for those involved to be able to learn from someone who has found success with living with the condition.

Rodgers and the rest of the Liberty squad will be back in action at Madison Square Garden on Friday, August 8 as they host the Connecticut Sun, with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m.
