Cosmos Host Soccer Camp to Support Local Make a Wish Chapter

Make-A-Wish® Hudson Valley and the New York Cosmos announced on Thursday a special three-day youth soccer clinic focused on raising funds to grant a wish for a child in need from the local area. The Cosmos Training & Development Program (TDP) will host the clinics March 24-26 from 5-7 p.m. each evening at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry. The clinics will be held in conjunction with Rivertowns United/AYSO Region 324 and are open to children ages 5-15.

For parents interested in signing up their children for the clinics, please visit and click on the https://ayso324.sportssignup.com ‘Register’ link. Registration is limited to the first 120 registrants.

100 percent of the registration fees will go to the local chapter of Make-A-Wish.

“We thank the New York Cosmos and Mercy College for their spirit of generosity and commitment to our mission,” said Tom Conklin President & CEO, Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley.  “Money raised from this extraordinary community event will be instrumental in continuing to insure that an eligible child will have the opportunity to have their one true most heartfelt wish granted.”

Mercy College has donated the playing fields to Make-A-Wish® and the school will also host a celebratory barbeque for all participants at the culmination of the clinics. All children who participate will also receive a complimentary t-shirt from the Cosmos, J.P. Doyle’s Restaurant and Public House and the Celtic Corner Pub.

“Our club is really looking forward to hosting these clinics,” Cosmos Chief Operating Officer Erik Stover said. “Make-A-Wish is a great organization and we want to help them fill a great wish for someone. Hopefully our fans and the young soccer players in New York can help us reach this goal with Make-A-Wish.”

About Make-A-Wish® Foundation Hudson Valley

Make-A-Wish® Foundation of the Hudson Valley grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Since its inception in 1986, the chapter has granted wishes to over 2,200 children in the communities it serves. A primary objective is to make sure that every child eligible for a wish receives a wish. Although the child is the main focus of the wish, Make-A-Wish involves the entire family so they can all enjoy a happy, carefree experience with no strings attached. This allows everyone in the family an opportunity to share in the child’s dream and to fully participate in a positive wish experience. The wish experience is a combined community effort involving volunteers, staff, donors and medical professionals to make each wish come true. The Chapter serves Delaware, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties.
