Tonight will be the third and final game between these two teams this season, as New York holds a 4-0-2 record against Washington in their last six games and are looking to sweep the Capitals for the first times since 1980-81.
Anders Lee scored a goal in his NHL debut to help lead the Islanders to a 5-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday. Also helping to lead the way on offense were Frans Nielsen, John Tavares and Matt Moulson.
With a goal on Tuesday Anders Lee became the 19th Islander to score in his first NHL game (first since John Tavares – 10/3/09). Lee joined Tavares, Jesse Joensuu, Chris Campoli and Todd McLellan as the only Islanders to score on their first NHL shot in a debut.
