Here are some notes for those fans watching the New York Rangers (8-7-2) take on the Winnipeg Jets (8-9-1) in NHL action at Madison Square Garden.
This is the first of three meetings between the two teams, as the Blueshirts start a four-game homestand. New York has lost three straight and four of their last five games.
New York sits one point ahead of the Jets, who have been a team on fire in the Eastern Conference, so tonight is a big test for the Blueshirts.
The Rangers will get to return to the friendly confines of Madison Square Garden, after an unsuccessful road trip in Canada in which they were only tallied four points. New York is 0-2-1 in their last three games, and 1-2-2 in their previous five overall.
The guys love playing at home though, holding a 6-3-1 mark at the Garden, and hopefully this stretch will reignite the team back to their winning ways.
Fans can expect for keeper Henrik Lundqvist to start in the cage tonight. Lundqvist, who allowed only two goals in winning both of his starts against Winnipeg last year; The King posted a 1.98 goals-against-average over his last 12 starts this season, and would enter into tonight’s game coming off a 35-save effort against Ottawa last Thursday.
The Rangers and the Jets game is set to air on the MSG network, with the face-off slated for 7:00 p.m.
