Here are some notes for those fans watching the New York Islanders (6-8-1) who are on the road to take on the Ottawa Senators (8-6-2) in NHL action.
The Islanders play in the second game in a stretch of five games in seven days, while also opening a three-game road trip tonight. The Isles and the Sens play three times this season, with the final two happening on Long Island.
New York holds a 19-42-14 record against Ottawa, with the last regulation victory taking place on 2/5/11, which was a 5-3 decision.
In 2011 the Isles had a 1-3-0 record against the Senators, as the guys dropped the final three matchups. In the last game on April 1, Mark Streit scored first but Ottawa responded with five unanswered goals for a 5-1 victory.
The guys have been able to win three of their last four road games, leading the league in power-play efficiency at 36.8% (7-for19).
Isles Recap:
The Islanders suffered a tough 7-0 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday. Leading the way for Philly was Claude Giroux who scored twice as Ilya Bryzgalov made 19 saves in the cage for his first shutout of the season for the Flyers.
Moulson looking to make History:
Fans should keep an eye out to see if Matt Moulson is skating in tonight’s game, if he does so he will tie Denis Potvin for third on the franchise all-time leader board with 262 consecutive games played. Moulson has had 14 points (5-9-14) in his last 11 games.
The Isles and Senators game is scheduled to air on the MSG Plus network, with face-off slated for 7:30 p.m.
