Islanders vs. Lightning Notes 1/21/13

Here are some notes for those fans watching the New York Islanders (0-1-0) as they will play host to the Tampa Bay Lighting (1-0-0) in NHL action at Nassau Coliseum. It will be the first of three meetings this season between the teams, as the Isles and Bolts split a four-game season series in 2011-12.

Islanders head coach Jack Capuano looks to return to the team’s bench after missing out on the home opener due to kidney stones. The Islanders could not find their sea legs in their 2-1 loss to the Devils on Saturday.

The Islanders will look to better their three shot performance against the Lighting, who have always been a tough foe at the Coliseum. The player to watch for the Lighting as always is Martin St. Louis who had two goals and an assist for the Bolts in their victory on Saturday.

Opening up the scoring for the Islanders was blueliner Travis Hamonic, while Michael Grabner and Kyle Okposo recorded their first assists of the season.

Evgeni Nabokov will look to make his second start at home for New York; thus far the keeper has 28 saves and a .929 save percentage to start the season.
