Hofstra women’s basketball cap special day with victory over Old Dominion

The Hofstra University women’s basketball team (8-8, 4-1 CAA) was able to regain their winning ways against a very tough Old Dominion team (12-5, 3-2 CAA) in a 83-72 victory at the Mack Sports Complex. The ladies who had their six-game winning streak snapped against Drexel on Thursday, got back to their winning formula of balanced scoring and great defense.

Helping to lead the way for the Pride on offense was Shante Evans, who was honored prior to the game for setting the all-time school scoring record. Evans recorded a double-double of 30 points and 10 boards. The Pride forward complete exploded for her team in the second half of play tallying 28 of her 30 points in the frame.

For Evans, she was able to record her 58th career double-double. Guard Andreana Thomas also had a double-double for the pride with her 12 points and 13 assists.

Hofstra will next be in action on Sunday, January 27th as the ladies hit the road to take on James Madison. The ladies will next be home on Thursday, January 31 when they host George Mason at 7:oo p.m.
