The New York Islanders (22-22-8) begin a three-game, four –day homestand, starting with a 7:00 p.m. face-off against the Montreal Canadiens (21-24-9) tonight. It is the third meeting of the season, with each team holding a home-ice victory.
New York has won their last four games against Montreal, while also winning the last four meetings against the Habs in the Coliseum.
The Isles and Habs are separated by a point in the Eastern Conference standings, as New York looks to snap a Montreal two game winning streak.
Playing in his first game at home will be blueliner Aaron Ness, who made his NHL debut for the Isles in the 1-0 shootout victory against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night. Ness played a total of 14:25 ice time in his debut for the Isles.
The Islanders announced on their website that center Frans Nielsen agreed to a four-year extension, keeping the versatile center through the 2015-14 season. Nielsen scored one of the two shootout goals in the victory against Philly.
