Isles look to start second half strong in Carolina

If you are a fan of the New York Islanders, now is the time you are hoping to see the guys in Orange and Blue take a run. The push for a playoff spot starts tonight in Raleigh in a 7:00 pm face-off against the Carolina Hurricanes.

New York looks to continue to rack up points, as the guys have been able to pick-up some big victories against teams like Washington, Philadelphia and will look to replicate their success against the Hurricanes.

In the last meeting All-Star John Tavares tallied two goals in the 2-1 OT victory over Carolina at Nassau Coliseum. The center coming off an impressive showing at the All-Star break has 22 points in the last 14 games.

Also opening eyes with his play on the Island is winger P.A. Parenteau, who surpassed the 40-point plateau, coming up clutch for the Islanders with a huge goal against the Maple Leafs last Tuesday, with 12 seconds remaining.

Evgeni Nabokov has helped to lead the islanders to two victories over the Hurricanes, as the cager now has an 8-1-1 record with a 2.04 lifetime GAA against Carolina. Al Montoya made his return to the cage for New York last Tuesday against Toronto making 17 saves in his first start since suffering a concussion on December 20.
