Yankees legacy has a nice ring to it

When the name New York Yankees is stated to sports fans around the world, most people think of legacy, while others may think of dynasty-most all will think of rings. The Bombers will look to keep that legacy alive, by going for their 28th World Series title.

Keeping that legacy and dynasty alive were two big victories over American League East foe Tampa Bay Rays in a day, night doubleheader on Wednesday. The Bombers not only were able to clinch their 16th playoff berth in 17 years but they also secured their 12th division crown in 16 seasons.

In Game One Robinson Cano had a two-run double in the eighth inning to lead the Bombers to a 4-2 victory. Jorge Posada kept the ‘Key Three’ legacy alive in Game Two, driving in two runs on a pinch hit in the eighth inning-to lead the Yankees to the identical 4-2 score.

The Yankees (95-60) now hold a lead over Central champion Detroit Tigers (90-65) for home field advantage throughout the AL playoffs; it seems as if the Red Sox in spite of their struggles may limp their way into the Wild Card spot.

Boston extended their lead over Tama Bay to 2 ½ games, but watch out for the Los Angles Angels (85-70) who are also 2 ½ games behind.

The Bombers will conclude this three-game set with the Rays, and will send out Bartolo Colon (8-9, 3.81 ERA) to the hill for the finale. The veteran starter is slated to take on Matt Moore (0-0, 6.23 ERA). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
