Mike Rupp a blueliner- blue collar guy for the New York Rangers

The New York Rangers brought defenseman Mike Rupp to the team, hoping that his defensive play with help the Blueshirts in shutting down the opposition this season.

They were hoping for a hard working, blue collar guy, and received confirmation of that as a report on WPXI, a news network in Pittsburgh, had a story on Rupp compensating a fan for his beer.

It had seemed as if the rugged Rupp crashed into the boards during warm-ups, causing a fan by the name of John Kraynak to spill his beverage.

The blue liner asked a trainer to go to the locker room, and grab $10 from his wallet and a hockey puck as an apology to that fan for spilling his beer.

That type of attitude along with a hard-hitting style of play that was seen both for the Pittsburgh Penguins along with the New Jersey Devils-will make Rupp a fan favorite at MSG this season.

The Blueshirts are slated to open their preseason schedule in Albany, on September 21-as they will take on the Devils, with the faceoff slated for 7:00 p.m.
