Maybe Terry Collins post game interview on Thursday fired his team up? Maybe the Mets are more relaxed on the road? Or maybe this is just a reward for a team, who has had such a long-rough stretch at Citi Field.

Either way David Wright hit two bombs to lead the New York Mets (72-79) to a 12-2 victory over the Atlanta Braves (86-65) on Friday night baseball team. Both Wright and the Mets needed this game, as it had seemed that maybe this team was going to sputter its way to the end.

That might not be the case though, as the Mets bats came alive with 20 total hits against their arch-rivals. Recording the most hits was Lucas Duda, who finished with a four hit night.  Four other Mets had three, including Wright-who had five RBI’s.

All off this offense certainly lifted the performance of starter Chris Capuano (W, 11-12) who tossed five innings, gave up six hits-but also struck out six batters. ‘Cap’ looked like he had struggled at the start-began to settle down-and found a groove.

Mets pitching combined for a total of 11 strikeouts of Brave batters, as New York is trying to play spoiler in the final Wild Card spot between Atlanta and St. Louis.

This team looks to continue the fire power, as knuckle ball specialist R.A. Dickey (8-12, 3.43 ERA) takes the mound for Game Two. The righty is slated to face Atlanta-ace Tim Hudson (14-10, 3.32 ERA) with the first pitch scheduled for 4:10 p.m.
