On a beautiful day in the Bronx, the Fordham University Men’s Basketball program welcomed a new era in the program as they named Mike Magpayo as the Head Coach.
Looking to go into a new direction and being more competitive in the Atlantic 10 Conference, the team wanted to find someone to take them to that next level.
Well, the search for a new leader concluded and at the finale of the search emerged Coach Magpayo in helping to lead the Rams on that quest.

With his career coming full circle as Magpayo started to earn his chops in the New York area, before going to California.

It was his time in California and what he was able to achieve at UC Riverside that caught the attention of the hiring committe at Fordham University.
Some of the impressive numbers for Coach Magpayo include the fact that he was able to complie a 89-63 (.586) record, to go along with having two 20-win seasons, including a 21-13 mark that featured a 14-6 mark in the Big West Conference.
Coach Magpayo fits in with the mission that Fordham University has when it comes time for elevating the profile of a historical program that is 122-years-old.
With his wife and two sons in attendance, along with some of the historical Rams that helped to build the foundation and the current team all in attendance, it was clear that the respect for Coach Magpayo was very high.
That and included with the press conference was a warm welcome from the Coaching staff in the Basketball Community as the bonds with Coach Mike are deep, with his friends also getting hired to local area colleges, including the recently hired Dan Geriot at Iona.
It’ll be an exciting time at Fordham University, and Coach Magpayo along with the rest of the squad are already going to work to get the foundation laid for the 2025 season and beyond.
