So Close for New York City FC in Loss to Atlanta

The Boys in Blue got themselves oh so close, but ulimately fell to Atlanta 4-3 in MLS action on Saturday.

It was an action- packed match, as New York City FC saw a great start and goals from Hannes Wolf (twice) and Alonso Martínez, it was the home side making the epic comeback and gaining three points.

This is the third time in Alonso’s career that he has scored in each of the last three matches.

For Martinez the goal was his 20th in his 34th game as he is the second-fastest player in Club history to reach this milestone.

As for Wolf, the forward was able to tally his first brace for the franchise.

Also contributing to the offensive efforts was forward Julian Fernandez as he earned an assist in the match. The assist was the second of the season, and the two assist in 2025 match his career-high single-season total of two that was set in 2024.

The guys now head back to the New York area and prepare and train for a hoe match against Minnesota to be played on 4/6 at Yankee Stadium.

For those that follow the team, the guys have always played well in front of the home crowd at Yankee Stadium, and thus far have two wins in the Bronx So far.

These two clubs have faced each other recently, as they were both a part of the Coachella Valley Invitational. In that meeting it was the Boys in Blue coming on top with a 1-0 victory. Earning the goal in that match was Martínez scoring the lone goal.

Can the guys bring that experience as well the experiences they had playing against Orlando and New England in with them to that match on 4/6. That is what is to be seen when all enter into Yankee Stadium on that day.
