Washington Shows Fighting Spirit in Loss to Orlando

With a capacity crowd of 11,636 in attendance at Audi Field the ladies of the Washington Spirit showed there fighting Spriit in the team’s 3-2 loss against the Orlando Pride.

On Superhero night there were plenty of Heroic performances from the Spirit as the two teams played the other in a tightly contested day.

Getting the scoring going for Orlando is Angelina as she was able to get an assist by Barbra Banda in the 22nd minute of the match.

That moment for Orlando is a special one as Angelina scored her first NWSL goal along with Banda having her first NWSL assist.

Both teams were able to put some great chances at the net, but both sides goalkeepers stood tall and strong throughout the fury.

Thanks to the Washington team’s fighting Spirit they were able to tie the things up on a goal by Ouleye Sarr getting an assist by Croix Bethune in the 40th Minute of the match.

For Sarr the goal is the second of the season, while Bethune was able to record the first assist of the season.

Both squads continued to impress with the style of play on the field, but it was Orlando gaining two goals by Banda and Summer Yates in the 51′ and 57′.

The Spirit fans though got to see Ashley Hatch do what she does best and put on a highlight reel style goal in the 65′ to get things within striking distance of an epic comeback.

At the end though of all the action and scoring opportunities it is the Orlando Pride winning by a final of 3-2.

There was a bit of a Milestone Moment for the Spirit as Casey Krueger reached the 10,000 career regular season minute during the match against the Pride.

The Spirit are going to be going on the road to take on the Chicago Red Stars SeatGeek Stadium on Wednesday, May 1 as the start time for that match scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
