New York City FC looks to continue strong showing with away match in Miami

Thus far New York City FC (1-0-4) sits in 14th place in the MLS standings and is going to go on the road to take on the Second Seeded Inter Miami (3-1-2) looking to change the team’s luck when it comes time for playing on the road.

These two franchises have met eight other times thus far in the regular season, with the Boys in Blue having a 6-1-1 overall record. NYCFC has several impressive statistical categories including scoring 15 goals (1.88 per match), attempting 96 shots with 35 shots being on goal.

Impressing between last and this season in the goalkeeper position is Matt Freese as he is once again providing the Boys in Blue with some big time saves. In the five games that he played during the 2024 season Freese is amongst some of MLS best goaltenders.

Here are the stats for Matt as he is tied for 14th in MLS for saves (14), while averaging 2.8 saves in a match. The trend that is noticeable in the matches that the franchise plays in is the fact that Freese does not allow the opposing team to have second chance opportunities, and NYCFC as a whole is tied for eighth in MLS in saves.

There are some memorable moments between NYCFC and Inter Miami including the Boys in Blue 1-0 victory against Inter Miami during the 2023 season.

When it comes time for Inter Miami CF, they are going to have a ton of talent to watch including the fact that they were able to sign midfielder Yannick Bright to the organization for a deal that is going to last till 2027.

Miami holds a 3-2-1 record while also recording 10 points, while also having the highest wins and points in six matches thus far this season.

NYCFC Is going to see the return of Keaton Parks along with James Sands, Justin Haak and Andres Perea to help bolster the midfield, also going to help with the confidence of the club is the fact that Monsef Bakrar made his international debut with Algeria and experience like that is something that is going to prove to be valuable for the squad in being able to bring more experience and poise to the field when it comes time for matchdays.

The match between NYCFC and Miami is going to take place on Saturday, March 30 with the kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
