Both squads attempted to score throughout the night, but the defensive play shown by both sides kept the other off the scoreboard.
There were a ton of stars on both sides of the pitch as well as some debuts. Jamaica had themselves a lineup of Jahmali Waite, Jon Bell, Jamoi Topey, Richard King, Javian Brown, Devon Williams, Ramone Howell, Tyreek Magee, Deshane Beckford, Demario Phillips and Romario Williams.
Waite hailing from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Area played for both FDU and the University of Connecticut prior to playing with the USL Pittsburgh Riverhounds and then getting the call to the Jamaican National Team.
One of the names that is going to be known the most by those Vancouver Whitecaps fans is that of Javian Brown, as he also acts as a defender for the MLS Club.
Brown got selected by the Whitecaps with the team’s 23 overall pick at the 2021 MLS SuperDraft and is playing well with the squad there as well as during this style of play against Guatemala in the International Friendly.
Speaking of Guatemala with all of Red Bull Arena Behind them the Guatemala National team played lineup featuring Fredy Perez, Jose Ardon, Jose Pinto, Marco Dominguez, Kevin Ruiz, Jose Morales, Pedro Altan, Oscar Castellanos, Oscar Santis, Elmer Cardoza, and Darwin Lom.
One of the names that is known to those MLS NEXT Pro fans is that of Olger Escobar, as he is on the roster of the New England Revolution II squad.
Thanks to the support from the crowd the Guatemala National Team looked like the team that was going to win the match. Especially in the second half of play, as they were the team taking the most opportunities to score on the net.
Some of the most memorable moments in the Second Half came around the 46′ when Cardoza tried for a chance but was not able to find the back of the cage.
One of the many themes of the match is how physical the style of soccer was, as both squads wanted to maintain the possession of the ball.
Then around the 48′ Altan tried for a chance but that also missed.
There was also some exciting moments where the team’s defense particularly impressed as Jamaica was able to block a chance by Guatemala and later on around the 60′ the favor was returned as Jamaica tried for a chance but that was also blocked.
Overall, the night is one that is going to be remembered as one that is full of fun and festivities, especially it is incredible how many fans of the Guatemala National Team was outside of Red Bull Arena and tailgating prior to the start of the night.
Then throughout the match the fans of Guatemala kept Red Bull Arena rocking with a great atmosphere.
