Stakes are High in the Third Edition of the 2023 Hudson River Derby

There are going to be a ton of emotions and feelings as both New York City FC and the New York Red Bulls prepare for the third edition of the 2023 Hudson River Derby.

Ever since the birth of the Boys in Blue instantly the dice was cast between the budding rivalry between these two Metropolitan Area MLS Teams, as on Saturday Afternoon they are going to meet for the 27th time.

Thus far NYCFC holds a 8W-16L-2D mark against the Red Bulls, and the passion from both sides of the supporter’s group has been felt as these matches are always a must win on any occasion.

Especially when the two franchises hit the field at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, as both NYCFC and the Red Bulls are in contention for a playoff spot. The rankings look like this as the Boys in Blue sit in the 12th spot with 29 points and the Red Bulls in 13th place with 29 points.

Both NYCFC and the Red Bulls are chasing D.C. United for that coveted opportunity to play in the 2023 MLS Playoffs.

NYCFC fans are encouraged to check out the following video featuring thoughts from Head Coach Nick Cushing and Midfielder Keaton Parks as the team prepares for the match vs the Red Bulls on Saturday…video is Compliments of New York City FC:

Whoever wins on Saturday is going to claim that 12th spot, and well things do not look good for the team that loses. The path for NYCFC is going to be a tough one if the result does not go in their favor, as they may need to win all of their matches if they want a chance at the dance.

What is going to be even more emotional for those that have supported NYCFC is the fact that Saturday is going to mark the end of NYCFC 2023 home games at Yankee Stadium. As the franchise announced recently a new 25,000-seat stadium complex that is going to be build in Queens.

Since the birth of NYCFC, Yankee Stadium has been home, and provided many memorable moments for the team. As of today, the team has a record of 3W-1L-4D through their eight games at the Stadium.

Lots and lots of emotions and a lot on the line, all of it in making for a wonderful atmosphere as New York City FC gets ready to play host to the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, September 16 with the start time set for 3:30 p.m.
