Ariel Atkins resigns with Mystics as team Prepares to take on Indiana

There were a ton of things that the Washington Mystics (14-16) were hoping to achieve during the 2023 WNBA Season.

One of them was the hope to resign Guard, Olympic gold medalist and WNBA Champion Ariel Atkins to an extension.

There are a lot of teams that would want the caliber of Atkins as she is a true leader both on and off the court, for Atkins though her faith and beliefs are keeping her in the Washington D.C. area.

To hear more from Atkins along with Head Coach Eric Thibault share these thoughts after the team’s training session on 8/16…video is compliments of the Washington Mystics:

Atkins is one of the many returning from the injured reserve list but has been a tremendous boost to the team in helping them with her leadership from the bench.

There are other things on the Mystics check list to be announced as the year progresses, but having Atkins back is something that is going to be a comfort to the franchise.

Now the next step for the Mystics is a road trip to take on the Indiana Fever on Friday, August 18 with the start time scheduled for 7:00 p.m. After that the ladies return back to Washington D.C. to host the Dallas Wings on August 20.
