The year 2023 for the Washington Mystics (12-12) has featured one theme that has left fans in heartache, as the ladies now have a total of three players that are out with an ankle injury.
One of the more recent members of the injury reserved list came when between the First and Second Quarters the team announced on Twitter that the newest addition to the squad in Queen Egbo left the game with an ankle injury.
Egbo brought in to help the team with rebounding and size and was starting to get a ton of momentum. Thus far the forward/center has 3.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, and 0.3 assist per game.
Once again showing that next woman up mentality, the ladies showed a ton of fight but fell to the Dallas Wings (14-10) by a final of 90-62 in WNBA action on Friday.
Washington Mystics fans are encouraged to check out the following video featuring thoughts from Head Coach Eric Thibault along with Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Tianna Hawkins ….video is compliments of the Washington Mystics:
There are still a ton of stellar performances to highlight, as the franchise figures out what to do next with their roster.
Leading the way is Brittney Sykes with 12 points, five rebounds, four assist, five steals and a block. Sykes is one of the WNBA leaders, as this is her third game recording 5+ steals this season.
There was also a milestone moment for Sykes as she now has 250 career steals, as well as 500 career made free-throws.
Also having a stellar showing is Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, with her 14 points on 6-12 shooting from the field. Walker-Kimbrough was able to have her fifth performance this season of 10+ on 50% or better from the field.
Helping to round out the scoring is Natasha Cloud as she filled up the stat sheet with 11 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
As the Washington Mystics try to figure out who is going to step up, the ladies continue their road stretch with a game against the Atlanta Dream on July 30 in the Gateway Center Arena @ College Park located in Atlanta, Georgia. Tip time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
