The WNBA All-Star game is quickly approaching, and the teams are selected as the 2023 edition of the All -Star game is going take place at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 15.
Some of the best and brightest in the W are going to be in Vegas, as leading the charge is Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty and A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces have been named the team captains.
Stewart has helped the W elevate their brand since making the move from the Seattle Storm to the New York, as now more and more eyes are on the brand thanks to the bold moves made by Liberty General Manager Jonathan Kolb.
As for A’ja, she has been the face for the W after having been selected by the Aces with their number one overall pick in 2018. Has since gone on to win her first WNBA MVP in 2020, as well as her first Olympic Gold medal in the 2020 Summer Olympics. Adding on to her amazing achievements during the 2022 Season, Wilson helped lead the Aces to their first title in franchise history.
A’ja is going to play in the WNBA All -Star game for the fifth time, has herself an impressive team. The starters for Team Wilson include fellow Aces teammates Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young, upcoming W star Aliyah Boston, Indiana Fever, Arike Ogunbowale, Dallas Wings. Las Vegas Aces Head Coach and W Great Becky Hammon along with the Aces coaching staff is going to lead Team Wilson who will be sporting black uniforms for the game.
Breanna Stewart, having herself a Basketball Hall of Fame resume, making history in both Seattle and in New York, is going to be playing in the WNBA All- Star game for the fifth time selected Phoenix Mercury Britney Griner as the first pick for Team Stewart.
Also on the squad are, Jewell Loyd of the Seattle Storm, Satou Sabally, Dallas, Nneka Ogwumike of the Los Angeles Sparks. Stewart’s team will be led by Connecticut Sun Head Coach Stephanie White and her Sun staff. Team Stewart are scheduled to wear orange uniforms.
The second-round reserve selection will consist of for Team Wilson, Kelsey Plum, Las Vegas, Allisha Gray of the Atlanta Dream, Alyssa Thomas, Connecticut, Cheyenne Parker, Atlanta, DeWanna Bonner, Connecticut, Elena Delle Donne of the Washington Mystics.
As for Team Stewart their reserves feature stars such as Courtney Vandersloot, New York, Sabrina Ionescu, New York, Ezi Magbegor, Seattle, Napheesa Collier, Minnesota Lynx, Kelsey Mitchell, Indiana, Kahleah Copper, Chicago Sky.
The AT&T WNBA All-Star 2023 game is going to air on the ABC network at 5:30 p.m. PT/8:30 p.m. ET.
