The Starry WNBA 3-Point Contest and Kia WNBA Skills Challenge will take place in July 14 at 1pm PT/4PM ET with a star-studded line up. The Skills Kia Challenge has a new format and the game consist of head-to-head in a two-round, timed, obstacle course, relay competition that tests agility, dribbling, passing, and shooting skills. Among the obstacles positioned along the course will be a Kia EV6.
Getting the chance to show off their skills is going to be New York Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu and Courtney Vandersloot, Atlanta Dream’s Allisha Gray and Cheyenne Parker, Dallas Wings’ Arike Ogunbowale and Satou Sabally, Las Vegas Aces’ Chelsea Gray and Kelsey Plum.
Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu will make her first appearance this season at the Kia Starry 3 Point Contest. Ionescu has earned her spot with her career highlights of being one of the best three-point shooters in the league as of 2023. Ionescu is shooting 44.6% from three (54-121) through 16 contests.
At the tender age of 24 Sabrina has already made WNBA history with three triple career doubles, Passing WNBA legend Lisa Leslie and tying with Candace Parker.
The Kia WNBA Skills Challenge will start with four sets of teams competing in one at a time in an obstacle course race against the clock, where Player 1 will complete the obstacle course and will be followed by their teammate, Player 2.
The two teams that complete the challenge with the fastest times will continue on to the second round which consist of the obstacle course played in round one.
This year’s edition of the Skills Competition is going to be interactive as fans of the WNBA are going to have an opportunity to participate in a 30-second version of the Kia WNBA Skills Challenge taking place on July 14 & 15. Those participating have a chance to win prizes in addition to testing out their shooting ability
The fan who makes the most three points shots in 60 seconds will win $33,333. There will also be a fan lounge called “STARRY Style Lounge” where those in attendance can participate in games to win custom merchandise, take photos at a branded Photo Booth, sample STARRY products and also view WNBA All-Star A’ja Wilson’s footwear style.
In addition, for those who are going to be in Las Vegas can also check out the WNBA Live event presented by U.S. Bank. WNBA Live is a two-day fan festival that will celebrate the intersection of the WNBA, fashion, music and culture. It will begin on Friday, July 14 at 12 p.m. PT and run through Saturday, July 15 at 8 p.m. PT at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
