Three in a row for the Mystics as team continues fine play in Chicago

In sports one of the best things in the world and one of the best feelings is when a team can get hot at just the right time. It is a wonderful feeling after all the hard work that is put into the practices and after all the adversity that a group goes through to start to see positive results.

Thus far the Washington Mystics, who have had a tremendous positive energy and spirit around them, are starting to see those positive results as the team has won their third game in a row.

The most recent victory is their 80-59 victory over the Chicago Sky, as the ladies have been able to beat their opponents twice in a row.

Once more the theme of team play, team defense and overall great chemistry helped to lead the way for the ladies in their most recent victory.

In terms of individual performances here are the players that impressed.

Starting off the impressive performances is that of Elena Delle Donne, as she had 18 points, eight rebounds and four assist. Delle Donne finished the game with a 7-14 shooting performance from the field, going 1-2 from three-point range and 3-3 from the free throw line.

Washington Mystics fans are encouraged to check out the following video featuring thoughts from Head Coach Eric Thibault, Elena Delle Donne and Natasha Cloud…compliments of the Washington Mystics:

Filling the stat sheet with some impressive numbers is the play of Brittney Sykes, as she tallied eight points, a season-high 11 rebounds, five assist and a steal. Thus far Sykes leads the WNBA with 2.1 steals per game, while holding the longest active streak in the league of games with at least one steal.

Even though she was under the weather Natasha Cloud had herself a night, including having a milestone moment in connecting on her 200th career three-pointer made against the Sky. Cloud, who holds the Mystics near and dear to her heart, as they were the team that gave her a chance coming out of College, became the fourth Mystic to make 200+ threes with the team.

There was another milestone moment when Tianna Hawkins made her 500th career field goal with the team, by contributing with four points and five rebounds off the bench. Hawkins is just the 16th player to record 500+ field goals made with the Mystics Franchise.

The feel-good moment of the game came when DMV product Abby Meyers scored her first career points coming off the bench for the squad. The Mystics who may change their name to the Washington Terrapins thanks to the success of all the former University of Maryland Women’s Basketball players on their squad.

There is a ton of good energy surrounding this Mystics squad, and they are hopeful to keep that going as they continue their road trip against a New York Liberty team, who are going to be a very different squad then when the two teams met in the very first meeting on May 19.

Since that first meeting the Liberty have risen to the occasion finding their own team chemistry and play that has led them to a 7-3 record, which ranks them in second place in the WNBA Standings.

That game is going to be a rocking one at the Barclays Center with the time of the tip scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
