In a game that featured a bit of everything the Brooklyn Cyclones (27-37) were unable to complete a late inning comeback and fell to the Hudson Valley Renegades (39-26) by a final of 8-3 in MiLB action on Wednesday.
The team celebrating Juneteenth sported some sweet new jerseys at Maimonides Park, as the vintage uniforms had elements of Negro League Uniforms.
As both squads delt with light rain drops falling from the sky on and off throughout the game, it was the Renegades plating the first three runs on some shaky pitching by Brooklyn RHP Jeffrey Colon, as he removed from the mound early in the game after the Renegades plated three runs.

One could tell that Colon was nervous, and not only that but the Renegades jumped on the starter early. The action started when Rafael Flores laced an RBI triple, the bats stayed hot when Anthony Garcia ripped an RBI single and then one could tell Colon was starting to get nervous as he uncorked a wild pitch for the third run in the game.
From there it was up to the Cyclones Bullpen as RHP Robert Colina fared well in keeping Hudson Valley off the scoreboards.
It was thanks to Colina’s performance that kept the team in the game till the Bottom of the Fifth, that was when C Kevin Parada laced a single and plated the first run in the game. The Bats kept on rolling when Alex Ramirez got the second run in with a single to right, and then Parada saving the day with a triple to right that tied up the game.
Hudson Valley responded pretty quickly when the combination of Aldenis Sanchez and two bases loaded walks built the team’s lead to 8-3.
The Cyclones were unable to muster up any additional offense, as Hudson Valley eventually wrapped up the victory.
Wednesday night was an exciting one for fans, as they were treated to fireworks, a ton of interactions by both the Cyclones and Renegades and overall, a wonderful time at the ballpark.
Now both squads wait to see what the weather is going to bring, as the two teams close the first half of play on Thursday night. On the mound Brooklyn righty Tyler Stuart (1-0, 1.47 ERA), ranking as Minor League Baseball’s ERA leader takes on lefty Joel Valdez (1-4, 6.14 ERA).
First pitch in Game 3 between the Cyclones and Renegades is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with the first 1,500 fans in attendance getting a Cyclones Soccer Jersey and there being themes of Soccer and Italian Night.
