Rough Road trip for Gotham FC in 2-0 loss to Racing Louisville

Gotham FC almost did everything right, the only thing that the ladies lacked was the winning result, as the team ended up their NWSL match vs Racing Louisville with a 2-0 loss.

In terms of the stats, Gotham FC won the major categories, as the ladies were able to maintain a 59% of possession, while also outshooting the opposition 20-13, that included a 13-9 mark inside the box.

Prior to the start of the match there was a milestone moment for Gotham FC as midfielder McCall Zerboni made her 200th career appearance in the NWSL. Zerboni is in rarefied air with this feat as she is the second player in the league to reach the cap.

Gotham FC fans are encouraged to check out the following video featuring thoughts from Head Coach Juan Carlos Amoros and forward Ify Onumonu. Video is compliments of Gotham FC:

Even though NJ/NY won the statistical side of the match, they were not able to win the overall day, as it was Racing Louisville, who displayed great speed and passing ability walking away with the 2-0 victory.

Some of the stars for Gotham FC included goalkeeper Abby Smith, making several huge saves for her squad. Also having a fine performance was forward Lynn Williams making fans go ooh and ahhing with the many great shots on the net.

As for racing Louisville they had stars Savannah DeMelo and Thembi Kgatlana scoring the two goals of the game. Kgatlana had herself a showing, as the striker put on some video games moves througout the match showing she is going to be one to watch for in the NWSL.

Up next for Gotham FC the ladies get to return home to Red Bull Arena for a match against the Chicago Red Stars on June 25. That is going to be a special day as the team has an official FIFA World Cup celebration in store.

There are many on the Gotham FC projected to get the call to their respective National teams, and one already confirmed as forward Ifeoma Onumonu is going to play for Team Nigeria. The next few days are going to be nerve-wrecking ones as the rest of the rosters for the teams including that of Team USA is going to be unveiled.
