There is an excitement and buzz around Gotham FC, as the ladies are currently at the top of the table. Thus far the ladies have been playing a wonderful style of soccer that has been able to capture the imagination of women’s soccer fan, as they are getting ready to get ready to play in front of a record-setting crowd on June 4.

This is going to be most likely one of the more memorable days for the Gotham FC franchise, as they have set a sales record of more than 13,00 tickets sold for the match.

In the nine matches that they have played NJ/NY has 17 points, but the opponent is going to be a tough one, as the San Diego Wave have themselves a roster full of Team USA stars.

The Wave currently are in a four-way tie for second place with 16 points and have played well against Gotham FC. In the matchups played last season it was the Wave coming out on top, but this year there is a different look, feel and culture to the NJ/NY team.

Fans are going to be in for a treat as the current stars of the USWNT are going to play against the other. Gotham FC features midfielder Kristie Mewis, defender Kelley O’Hara and forward Lynn Williams all showing off their skills against Wave defenders Naomi Grima, forward Alex Morgan and midfielder Taylor Kornieck.

Williams shared these thoughts with members of the media at the team’s training session on 6/1…video is compliments of Gotham FC:

There are going to be a ton of festivities planned prior to the night as it is going to be the annual Pride night, not only that but prior to the action on the field the team is planning to have a Fan Fest outside of Red Bull Arena to get the good energy going.

Gotham FC returns back to Red Bull Arena after getting a huge 4-1 win on the road against the OL Reign on May 21 that helped to propel them to the top of the table. After that the ladies battled it out to a 1-1 draw against East Coast Rivals the Washington Spirit on May 28.

Now after a week of intense training and preparation the ladies are ready to show up and show off their tremendous playing style in front of that unprecedented crowd. Kick-off between Gotham FC and the San Diego Wave is set for 5:30 p.m.
