After a successful road trip to Hudson Valley the Brooklyn Cyclones returned home to Coney Island for a six-game stretch against the Winston-Salem Dash.
With eight of the nine starters tallying a base hit the Cyclones made solid contact in Game 1, as they saw a 7-3 victory.
Fans in Maimonides Park had themselves a pitcher’s duel treat, as the top pitching prospects for the Mets and White Sox showed a glimpse of what the future is going to be.

On one side of the mound the Mets current Number 5 Prospect in Blade Tidwell went five innings, striking out seven batters in a two-hit performance. As for the Dash they saw the White Sox No. 16 Ranked prospect in Jared Kelley striking out five batters in an impressive performance in his own way.
It was the Brooklyn bats that impressed the most, as the guys are starting to drive the baseball to the outfield for doubles and finding great success thanks to that.
The Doubles party started in the Bottom of the Second Inning when Chase Estep drove a ball to right field plating the first run of the game.
Then in the Bottom of the Third Omar De Los Santos, who has been hitting well anytime he is in the NYC area, doubled to left field that made the game 4-0.
In the Bottom of the Seventh Jaylen Palmer hit a homer that blasted over the left field wall that drove in two runs and busted the game open for the team. The Cyclones added insurance runs in the 8th thanks to Alex Ramirez and his double to center field.
The Dash saw themselves make some solid contact on their side of the dish and stayed in the game. It was in the Top of the 4th when Wes Kath drove in the first run on a single to right field combined with a single by Michael Turner that helped to drive in the first two runs of the game.
After a very quick turnaround the Cyclones and Dash returned to Maimonides Park for an 11:00 a.m. start time.
Ramirez got the team off to a great start in the First Inning when he Homered to Center field for the early 1-0 lead. From there it was small ball that got the team to a 4-0 lead, as working some great at-bats in the Second game were Kevin Kendall and Kevin Parada.
On the mound Righty Cameron Foster had himself an outstanding start in getting his second victory of the year. Foster worked five innings and struck out four batters.
These two teams will have a chance to meet in Game Three that is going to be played on Thursday, as it is Joander Suarez (1-2. 7.36 ERA) taking on Kohl Simas (3-1, 5.11 ERA).
In his Minor League career Joander has been able to strike out 145 batters, while having a 1.43 WHIP. Suarez signed with the Mets as an international free agent by the Mets on May 14, 2018, played with the St. Lucie Mets and is now with the Cyclones.
Simas, meanwhile, is the son of former White Sox closer Bill and brother of fellow prospect Karson.
Thus far Simas is the White Sox No. 15 Ranked Prospect and when he is on a roll features three effective pitches in the fastball, curveball and slider.
It is going to be a treat of a game as the Cyclones are having their Thursday Night Meal Deal running. The start time between the Cyclones and the Dash is set for 7:00 p.m.
