2023 Season going to be one to watch for the Washington Mystics

Brining a unique blend of experience veterans and up and coming stars the 2023 Washington Mystics are going to be a team to watch for.

There are a ton of great storylines to keep an eye for as the season progresses, especially there seems to be a positive energy and a vibe around the team.

There are going to be a ton of faces that are going to be familiar to the fans and followers of the team.

Ariel Atkins, Shakira Austin, Natasha Cloud, Elena Delle Donne are all looking to provide their veteran leadership and voice to the team and also hope to help bring along the newer players into the league.

One of the more intriguing quotes from the team’s 2023 Media Day came when one of the journalist had asked New Head Coach Eric Thibault about Elena Delle Donne and her using her voice more to help out her teammates.

Washington Mystics fans are encouraged to check out the video below to see what every member of the team had to say prior to the start of the 2023 season….video compliments of the Washington Mystics:

Delle Donne, who is getting stronger and stronger finished up the 2022 season with 17.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assist in 27.8 minutes per game. One of the things about Elena is the fact that she has a great court vision and is able to see the style of play that the teams are going to run. That is something that Coach Eric and the rest of the squad hope that she can communicate more with them as the year progresses.

In addition to that the vision of Natasha Cloud and Ariel Atkins are going to be huge to the Washington Mystics as they progress during the 2023 season. Cloud, who continues to shine in everything that she does, had another stellar year with Athletes Unlimited and is looking to continue a wonderful 20022 campaign that concluded with her finishing with a career-high in points (10.7) and assists (7.0) per game.

Atkins, meanwhile, is a woman who can do just about anything she can put her mind to it. Atkins now has a clothing line blending her passion for basketball to go along with a love of fashion as well.

Ariel is going into her sixth WNBA Season after being named to her second consecutive All-Star appearance, shooting 36.5 percent from beyond the arc.

There are going to be a ton of storylines to watch for, and one of the biggest is the fact that Eric Thibault is now the Head Coach. Stepping out of the assistant role, not many are familiar with how vital Eric has been to the success of the Mystics and this is going to be the season to see how he can do as the Head Coach of the team, in addition to what he has been able to learn from his father and General Manager Mike.

One of the biggest test for Coach Eric is how is he going to blend the veterans that he has on the rosters to go along with the newer players, as there are a ton of newer talented players that are going to be on this 2023 squads.

Brittney Sykes is one name to watch for, as she is going to play a big part to how the Mystics are going to be able to distribute the ball on the offensive side of the court.

The Mystics feature a backcourt of Cloud and Atkins so it is going to be fascinating to see how the rotations that Coach Eric may have with these three elite basketball players.

It is going to be an exciting season for fans of the Washington Mystics and the WNBA as the team is going to have a tough first test as they are going to take on one of the WNBA Super Teams in the New York Liberty on May 19. The game to be held at the Entertainment and Sports Arena is set for 7:00 p.m.
