After Challenge Cup Thriller Gotham FC returns to regular season play against North Carolina on Saturday

The ladies of Gotham FC got themselves a huge three points on Wednesday, defeating the Washington Spirit in UKG NWSL Challenge Cup action.

Lynn Williams played a huge part in the last two matches that Gotham FC has had. Including the last match against the Spirit, as she recorded the goal in the 56th minute. Along with Williams the play of goalkeeper Mandy Haugh kept the visiting side of the scoreboard.

Thus far Williams has played very well for Gotham as she has been able to record three goals in the last four matches.

They are going to now be returning to regular season NWSL play, when they host the North Carolina Courage on Saturday, April 22 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J.

Thus far the ladies have been able to play a tremendous style of soccer, especially in the victory over the Spirit who won the NWSL Championship recently.

One of the toughest challenges for Gotham though is that of North Carolina, as in the time that these two franchises have been able to meet against the other New York / New Jersey have a 4-4-8 record across all regular season matches.

It has been a tough slate against North Carolina, as Gotham FC has lost to the Courage in three of their four meetings in all competitions last season, but the ladies are hoping to change their future by playing well once again at Red Bull Arena

The stage has been set as Gotham FC and the North Carolina Courage are set to thrill fans starting at 7:30 p.m.
