After a wonderful 2023 College Basketball season the Hofstra University Men’s Basketball team will take on Rutgers in the first round of the 2023 National Invitation Tournament.
These two metropolitan area teams will square off at Jersey Mike’s Arena, with the tip set for 7:00 p.m.
The Pride will be making their seventh appearance in the NIT and their first since the 2018-19 season. In that campaign Hofstra was able to take on North Carolina State. In addition to that appearance there were also appearances during the 2016, 2007, 2006, 2005 and 1999 (that was also at Rutgers).
Hofstra was able to punch their ticket to the NIT Tournament after they won the regular season Colonial Athletic Association Title.
As they enter into the NIT Tournament the Pride will hold a 24-9 overall record, as the team was able to have the top seed in the CAA Championship. That goes along with a 16-2 conference record, in addition to a 12-game winning streak, which ranks as the fifth-longest in the program history.
Rutgers holds a 19-14 regular season record, while finishing the season with a 10-10 record in the Big Ten.
As they enter into the game on Tuesday, that will mark the seventh all-time meeting between Hofstra and Rutgers. The series between these two College Basketball rivals are knotted at three. The last time the teams met was in the 2020-21 season opening game, as the Scarlet Knights had a 70-56 victory over the Pride.
