Villanova Roars in First Round of the BIG EAST Tournament

Playing a tremendous defensive form, the Villanova Wildcats were able to roar in the First Round of the BIG EAST Tournament against Villanova, by a final score of 80-48. In front of a Sold Out crowd at Madison Square Garden Villanova continues to show why they are amongst one of the top teams in the world of College Sports.

The Wildcats defense was able to hold Georgetown to 73 points, kept the Hoyas to a 19-of-56 from the field (.339) as well as a 3-of-20 performance from beyond the three-point arc.

Helping to lead the way in the scoring for Villanova was Cam Whitmore, who was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year. Whitmore had himself a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Fellow senior Justin Moore was able to have 12 of his 13 points in the first half of play.

Up next for the Villanova Men’s Basketball team will be a quarterfinal matchup against Creighton (20-11, 14-6 BIG EAST Conference).

Villanova and Creighton are no strangers to each other, as they have been able to split the regular season meetings.
With a victory in the game Villanova will advance to meet the winner of the evenings game that features the No. 2 seed Xavier and No. 10 DePaul.
