As the Villanova University Men’s Basketball (13-13, 7-8 BIG EAST Conference) team honored their Seniors, the team as a whole showed a gritty defensive performance in the team’s 62-50 victory over Butler (13-14, 5-11 BIG EAST) in College Hoops action at Finneran Pavilion.
Helping to lead the way on Senior Day was honoree Justin Moore who had 15 points, while graduate student Caleb Daniels poured in 13 points.

In addition to Moore and Daniels, the University honored Chris Arcidiacono and Eric Dixion in the Senior Day festivities.
As for Butler they were led by Jayden Taylor, who had 12 points, as he was able to have a 5-for-10 shooting performance from the floor.
There was some great back-and-forth action in front of a rocking crowd at Finneran Pavilion, as Butler University had some runs that showed why they will be one of the teams to watch for in the BIG EAST Conference Tournament.

Ultimately it was the Wildcats defense that was able to stand tall, as the team was able to limit the visitors to a .377 shooting, while creating 10 turnovers.
Villanova and Butler are no strangers to each other, as the team’s first met in the 1996 Puerto Rico Shootout. Butler continues to struggle when they play in Philadelphia, as they now have a 1-9 mark in the area.
Up next for Villanova University, the Wildcats will hit the road to take on No. 18 Providence in a Saturday afternoon meeting. The tip between the two teams will start at 4:30 p.m. with the action airing on /Fox television network/Fox 29 in Philadelphia.
