New York City FC was able to add a dynamic and fast paced Midfielder Justin Haak to a contract through 2025 with an option for 2026.
Haak who hails from Brooklyn, New York signed his first professional contract in 2019 and he is the Club’s third-ever homegrown player and the first-ever signing from the fiver boroughs. Thus far the midfielder has been able to make 27 appearances, playing 1,083 minutes for NYCFC across all competitions
“I call New York home and for me to be able to represent the city is an honor. It always been a goal of mine to continue the development here with New York City FC is an honor,” Haak says, “It always been a goal of mine to continue my development here with the Club that has given me everything. I want to thank Dave and everyone for believing in me. I am proud to continue this heritage we are creating here.”
“Seeing the success that previous homegrowns have had here. I believe that this is the best place to continue my development.. There have been so many leaders in the locker rooms that have given me advice and have helped me grow. I will continue to work hard to achieve our goals and hope to have more success in the coming years.”
During the team’s last season Haak had been able to make a breakthrough for New York City FC after a strong performance against FC Dallas and went on to play in 15 matches in Major League Soccer, including an appearance in the 2022 Campeones Cup victory. In addition, Haak also suited up for the MLS NEXT Pro affiliate NYCFC II, playing in six matching while also scoring a goal.

I would like to repay them by bringing them happiness with my performances,” said Haak. “There is a ton of talent in New York City, it is just about believing in your ability. I am just another example that hard work and sacrifice pays off at the club.”

The midfielder was a part of the Club’s first-ever Academy team, the U14s in 2015, progressing through the entire pathway, helping the Club claim the Generation adidas Cup and the USDA Championship in 2017 and 18 respectively.
