Jillian Archer Lands Spot on BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

After recording a pair of double-doubles, St. John’s Women’s Basketball graduate student Jillian Archer earned a place on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

The forward averaged 15.0 points and 12.5 rebounds this past week during home wins over Iona and Bethune-Cookman. Archer’s rebound average this week ranked the second in the conference, trailing only DePaul’s Aneesah Morrow, who ranks fourth nationally on the year in that category.

The Santa Monica, Cali., native was efficient on the offensive end, shooting 62.3 percent from the floor (12-for-19) and 85.7 percent (6-for-7) from the charity stripe.

In the contest against Iona on Thursday, Archer poured in a season-high 19 point, dominating the Gaels in the post. It didn’t take long for the Georgetown transfer to secure her first double-double in a St. John’s uniform, as she did so in the first half.

On Sunday during the 73-51 victory against Bethune-Cookman, Archer cleaned up on the glass pulling down a season-high 14 boards. She added 11 points, reaching double-figures for the fourth time in five games.

Archer’s performance helped lead the Red Storm to a 10-0 record for just the third time in program history and first since 2014-15.

On the season, Archer has provided a big boost in the frontcourt, she is averaging 8.7 points and 8.0 boards per game. Her rebounding mark currently sits eighth in the BIG EAST.

The Johnnies will be back in action on Dec. 18 when they welcome league foe Providence. Sunday’s contest will be broadcast on FS1 at 4:30 p.m.
